Napper and I had a much needed two nights away in the desert to celebrate my birthday and take some time to reconnect!  Life is so busy and we find that these nights away really help refocus us on each other and our relationship without the distraction of kids, work, and a myriad of activities at home.  The desert is a perfect destination when you're feeling overwhelmed/tired/stressed/frazzled/disconnected - something about the heat, the stillness and the space that immediately helps recalibrate to a better frequency!

We have stayed at several places in Palm Springs over the years, like our beloved Korakia, but felt like exploring.  L'Horizon looked to capture the very essence of mid-century modern cool that is so quintessential Palm Springs, and it is a newer property garnering rave reviews, so we had to try it!  I'm so glad we did.

Upon check in we were presented with glasses of bubbles and water which was the best way to ease into two days of relaxation and romance!  We had the opportunity to stay in two different rooms-- the first a standard which was hip and sexy and cool, although lacked some privacy as it was closest to the restaurant (SO*PA, which was delicious and ambient for dinner and breakfast!!  We were disappointed with the lunch menu).  On our second day, after a sinfully delicious breakfast sandwich and complimentary yoga that was some of the best resort yoga I've experienced, we checked into a junior suite which was lovely.  What we gained in the junior suite was a sitting area, an infinitely nicer bathroom with dual vanity and an indoor/outdoor shower, and the privacy we were after.  Something to note and that we hemmed and hawed over a bit-- the pool view rooms have a view of the pool but also mean that there's not a lot of privacy.

What we LOVED:

-the aesthetic is straight out of an inspiring design mag

-the staff is beyond friendly, charming and helpful

-dinner at SO*PA felt special and romantic

-plenty of room and space in the sun and shade by the pool

-a feeling of spaciousness on the property

-room service in the morning

-complimentary lift to dinner in the property's white BMW

What to consider:

-due to the layout of the property there's not a ton of privacy

-lunch was disappointing

-my massage in the spa pavilion was a little chilly

-trivial, yet you can't turn the bedside lamps off on both sides

All in all, you can tell we loved it!  Can't wait to return.  xox
