Shake Your Ass and Be Happy - Kundalini Yoga!

We did something new today!  Kundalini Yoga.  Stepping out of our normal routine of "working out," we decided to not just work out our bodies, but go deeper.  Our friend Tricia Taper who is always radiating such light and ebullience, raved about a specific women's class at The Golden Bridge in Santa Monica proclaiming, "You'll feel high afterwards," or was it "on a high?"

We've been practicing yoga for about 20 years...  how is that possible?!  Most of our practice has been more focused on vinyasa style, which is extremely athletic and competitive.  Kundalini had always seemed mysterious to us.  Swami Sivananda Radha calls it, "the yoga of awareness", [it aims] "to cultivate the creative spiritual potential of a human to uphold values, speak truth, and focus on the compassion and consciousness needed to serve and heal others."

The class this morning felt very much in line with us.  Our teacher Normandie Keith began class by explaining the transition to December as a time for all the tension from November to burst.  Everything that needs to be let go of, will be finished, while everything we need and want will come back to us in the right way.  We did a lot of breath work, some physical movement (some of it was hard!  We sweat!), danced around the room, and chanted.  The class culminated with an extremely powerful healing circle where two members of the class, one who is about to undergo surgery and another, a pregnant mama, laid down in the middle of the rest of us encircling them.  We sang and chanted and used mudras to send them healing light and love.  It was so powerful we were both moved to the verge of tears.

We have felt clear and connected to our joy and purpose all day!  Amen, especially as the past couple weeks have felt frantic. Thank you for sharing Tricia!

We believe that we are all our own best guides (Normandie used word "Guru") and we have to decide to give ourselves the opportunity to take charge of our happiness! So try something new (or for those of you already doing it, keep doing it), shake out the old, heal the past, and celebrate the now!

Light and love to all!  xox
