Your eyes won’t stay dry during this emotionally powerful documentary, and you will be reminded to appreciate all that you have and everyone and everything that is important to you. GLEASON is a perspective changer, that takes you into the life of former New Orleans Saint football legend, Steve Gleason, who was diagnosed with ALS at the age 34, six weeks before learning his wife was pregnant with their son.
Steve wanted to capture as much of himself as possible to pass onto his unborn baby before he was potentially unable to speak or hold his son- ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a cruel disease which essentially traps the person in a deteriorating body leaving them unable to walk, talk, or move. Steve started a video diary full of sage advice, life lessons, health updates and humor, that morphed into a much larger documentary film project and movement, Team Gleason, to raise awareness, spirits and funds for those afflicted with ALS. Director, Clay Tweel, masterfully conveys this intimate story honestly and compassionately, into what is really, an expression and declaration of love. Steve and Michel Gleason allow us into their world and push us to love fuller and deeper, and to consider where we are in our lives and how we’re spending them. Take nothing for granted. Spend as much of your time as you can with those you love. Do something meaningful with your life.
GLEASON opens today. Go shake up your soul and see it. xoxo
